Diptii Mehta, teacher and tutor, has been working with local and international schools in Hong Kong since 1998. She completed post-graduate qualifications in Special Needs from the Hong Kong University in 2006, and has been working with various international schools in Hong Kong as a qualified teacher since this time.

 

Diptii's experience includes working with children in mainstream settings, and with children who experience Learning and Developmental Delays, Dyslexia, Down's syndrome, Prader-Willi Syndrome, Autism, and Aspergers.


Diptii has training in the methodology of the International Baccalaureate (PYP: Primary Years Program) as well as training in working with children with special educational and developmental needs. She has also been involved in program development, including setting up primary classes for a variety of kindergartens in Hong Kong.


Diptii values a Student-Parent-Teacher based approach and strives to assist children to achieve independence, confidence and a sense of pride in their learning abilities.

Lorraine graduated with a BA in Linguistics at one of the world's top universities- University of California, Berkeley. She has been working in a range of educational settings since she was in college, including working as an English teaching assistant for some college writing classes, English tutor etc. 

 

After graduation, she relocated back in Hong Kong and started her career at Autism Partnership (AP) as a Behavioural Therapist, where she received extensive training in handling children with severe social and emotional needs. In 2012, she joined Watchdog Early Education Centre as a Special Educational Needs Teacher to further her career in working with SEN children. As the SEN Teacher, Lorraine gained experience working with children with a various needs and abilities, including children with ASD, ADHD, ADD, Learning and Developmental Delays, Dyslexia, and Down's syndrome. Some of the children she worked with were mainstream students where she provided interventions according to individual needs to better prepare them for mainstream's learning.

 

In the past 2 years, she further enhanced her knowledge in Dyslexia and Mindfulness for children in London through completing postgraduate certificate courses in dyslexia and literacy support. In addition, Lorraine is now a Certified Mindfulness teacher for primary and secondary school children. Meanwhile, she is undertaking yet another professional course that is accredited by the British Dyslexia Association in order to further her professional career in specialising in Dyslexia training.
